Indian Premier League 2025: CSK brings in the second replacement after Mhatre in the middle of IPL 2025
Chennai Super Kings sign former Mumbai Indians player Dewald Brevis as a replacement for injured Gurjapneet Singh.
This is Chennai’s second time welcoming a new player in the middle of the IPL 2025 season, with Ayush Mhatre getting the earlier chance.
CSK has been seen playing in a very bad form, with the team currently taking the last position on the points table.
The captaincy was changed from Ruturaj Gaikwad to MS Dhoni, after which Gaikwad made his exit from this season due to his shoulder injury.
With Dewald Brevis now coming into the team, it is sprouting a seed of doubt among fans regarding the sudden inclusion of new players in the team.
Dewald Brevis is a South-African all-rounder cricketer who is known as “Baby AB” for his batting style.
The player has been given such a nickname due to his having similar batting techniques, accompanied by an aggressive style.
CSK bought the player for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season in 2.02 crores, and he will be seen in the playing 11 from the next match.
Dhoni is planning to qualify for the play-offs with new team members
Fans are excited to see Brevis playing for CSK as he was in the Mumbai Indians before getting released from that franchise.
Dewald Brevis is an exceptional young talent from South Africa who emerged at the top after debuting in 2023, after which he played two T20 international tournaments.
Brevis has also played for franchise leagues like the Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, Major League Cricket, etc.
The South-African talent played for Mumbai Indians in the 2022 and 2024 seasons, appearing in 10 matches.
Throughout his T20 career, he has accumulated 1,787 runs in 81 games, including a career-best score of 162.
With CSK trying to strengthen its batting order which has failed miserably in this season, the addition of Brevis in the middle order will be a great opportunity for CSK to hope for the play-offs.
It will be interesting to see how MS Dhoni decides to use Dewald Brevis in his beloved CSK team to uplift the team’s performance.
