Presenting the modern, twisted version of true Lovers Laila and Majnu in Movie Laila Majnu,

Imtiaz Ali well known for his different take on the concept of love wrote the story of this Tripti Dimri and Avinash Tiwari starrer some 10 years ago, unsure if he will ever make a movie like this but finally he did it.

The classic and an intense passionate love story of Laila Majnu has been adapted to the big screen one more time.

Laila Majnu is produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Preety Ali.

Directed by Sajid Ali, Laila Majnu stars Tripti Dimri as Laila and Avinash Tiwari as Qais Butt. This is the first lead role for these two newcomers. Director Imtiaz Ali, who has made many successful love stories, has penned down this film storyline.

Imtiaz Ali while sharing his words says, If you look in the past, you will see that intense love stories have been successful with new cast, be it in films like Ek Duje Ke Liye, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Maine Pyaar Kiya and Aashiqui series, the characters of that film are young and actors who are playing that part is also young so, it is a plus.

Laila Majnu storyline

Laila is a free-spirited girl from a conservative family who firmly believes in living for the present. Qais Butt, a spoilt brat, falls head over heels in love with her. Their families, however, are warring over property, which leads to self-destruction, pain and bleeding hearts.

This is a retelling of the classic tale of Laila and Majnu set in contemporary Kashmir. In the age of rom coms, debutant director Sajid Ali has ensured there are plenty of reasons, even for the new generation to watch this tale.
