Bridgerton Review: The New Netflix Drama That Everyone Is Talking About

How many of us have fallen in love with work of Jane Austen?

The great Victorian era, beautiful dresses, the formal dance parties and hopes of living the grand love stories of the alike of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy has surely crossed our minds and hearts.

 But what will make it even better is if all this is accompanied by just a tinge of drama to spice things up.

This is exactly what new Netflix series offers to viewers in the form of its new grand drama Bridgerton.

Writer of famous shows like Greys Anatomy and Scandal, Chris Van Deusen has created this eight episodic series for Netflix.

Bridgerton follows the story of the Bridgerton family and its eight siblings Daphne, Anthony, Colin, Benedict, Eloise, Gregory, Fransesca and Hyacinth.

 Though first season covers mostly the story of the eldest daughter of the family Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), her approach in the society and her quest to find the perfect match for her.

She wants to find a partner for her that will provide her a better status and will also up her family’s position in an aristocratic hierarchy.

But matters of the heart are not always that simple. What you think you may want might just turn out to be biggest lie you ever told yourself. This however, is just the Jane Austen Part.

The Perfect Combo of Sweet and Spice

For the spicy drama part viewers are introduced to the narrator of the story Lady Whistledown (voiced over by Julie Andrews).

Her main work is to spill all the dirty and juicy secrets hidden behind the grand demeanor and high status of society people.

This story being set in London in 19th century gives you full on period drama feel.

The erotic scenes might have gotten the series some infamous attention but they do fit right in the story.

What works best for Bridgerton is that it has a lot to offer to its viewers.

 Even though more seasons are sure to follow the story, first season in itself provides for a satisfactory ending.
