Lupin episode 1 spoilers: Assane’s epic heist from Louvre

The episode begins with Assane Lupin gawking the famous queen’s necklace at Louvre.

He is pretending to be a cleaner.

He then goes to a group of thugs, whom he owes money.

They threaten to kill him. He convinces them to plan a loot of the famous necklace.

He has all the plan ready at hand. All three of them would go in as janitor while he himself would pretend to be the buyer.

They would have seven minutes to escape and all of them would become millionaires very soon.

Next, we are given glimpse of past life of Assane and his father Babakar Diop. They are immigrants from Senegal to Paris in 1995.

His father works as chauffer for wealthy Pellegrini family.

He helps out Mrs. Pellegrini when her car breaks down and she calls him a gentleman.

His daughter Juliette shows a teasing interest in Assane.

When the famous queen’s necklace of the family goes missing, Bababker gets framed.

He is wrongfully convicted and hangs himself in the prison.

Assane decides to avenge his father

In the present, day of auction arrives and everything goes according to plan.

The trio of thugs are able to steal the necklace while leaving Assane tied at the Louvre where he is pretending to be the buyer.

Though they get caught immediately after.

Police team arrives for inspection and one of the officers believes that whole heist is very much inspired by the fictional detective Arsene Lupin of Maurice Leblanc’s novel.

Assane gets a clean chit but inspector has his suspicions about him. Viewers are then given a glimpse of 2 weeks earlier.

Assane saw that the famous queen’s necklace for which his father was framed has surfaced again and is ready for auction in Louvre.

He then gets into the cleaning team of Louvre to get the idea of the place.

He also plots to use the group of thugs for the fake robbery so he could execute his real plan.

While the trio was fighting and tying the Assane he cleverly switches the necklace for a fake one.

Later when the hubbub was slowed down he took out the real necklace in the trash posing as janitor again.

At the end he at Claire’s house to meet his son Raoul and hands him the book of Arsene Lupin.
